Defend techniques: Breaking Duck or Mekun Tia
It is not only a blocking technique, Bokator also teaches us how to defend ourselves by using the opponent’s momentums and attacks as weapons to fight back. Example, every time when being kicked, our Bokator practitioner can choose to raise his or one of his her legs to block or use his or her arm to grab the kick and strike back as like in the picture.
Learning about Defend techniques
In this picture, you can see that our Bokator artist is showing a technique amongst Duck’s Techniques (Mekun Tia) which has been named “Breaking Duck” since the ancient times. In the technique, If being kicked into left side, you have to grab the kick at the left side, if being kicked into right side, you have to grab the kick at the right side. After grabbing the kick, you can use your elbow to knock into thigh area of the opponent (Attacking on the muscle make hurt easily).
